Street food markets are more than spaces for trade—they serve as dynamic public arenas where people gather, pause from daily routines, and engage in rich multi-sensory experiences. Beyond their entertainment value, these markets also function as restorative environments, influencing well-being through spatial and atmospheric qualities.
Visitor behavior mapping and post-visit interviews reveal that elements such as light, sound, fragmented views, and natural components contribute significantly to the market’s therapeutic impact. However, these aspects are often overlooked as intentional design strategies, limiting their full potential.
This project explores how integrating these sensory and spatial elements more sustainably can enhance both individual experiences and broader urban life. By reimagining the street food market as an immersive, multi-functional space—a fusion of culture, entertainment, and well-being—it becomes not just a place of consumption but a vibrant neighborhood hub that fosters social interaction, relaxation, and community identity.
