Event: Linear Encounters exhibition, Centre Christo and Jean Claude
Gabrovo, BG, 2025
Linear Encounters is an exhibition installed at the Centre Christo and Jeanne-Claude in Gabrovo, dedicated to the research project Untold Stories: Tracing the Bulgarian Architectural Footprint in Abu Dhabi. The exhibition presents archival and contemporary materials exploring the participation of Bulgarian architects and engineers in shaping Abu Dhabi’s modern identity during the 1970s and 1980s.
The spatial design transforms the narrow gallery into a linear, choreographed environment where structure, graphics, and light guide visitors through a sequence of encounters. Inspired by transit corridors and urban grids, the installation reflects the cross-cultural exchange and movement at the heart of the research. Using scaffolding, tensioned cables, semi-translucent panels, and directional light, Linear Encounters builds a layered narrative of continuity and transformation. The result is a spatial dialogue where circulation becomes experience—inviting visitors to engage architecture as both history and lived encounter.
