harvesting land

event: Harvesting land exhibition at Oud House Rotterdam
Rotterdam, NL, 2025

Harvesting Land is an immersive research installation exploring rice, the predominantly consumed food by over half of the world population, as both material and metaphor — a carrier of culture, ecology, and memory. Through spatial design, photography, and participatory cooking, the exhibition rethinks food as a medium of connection between land, labor, and imagination.

The installation, inspired by the rice fields surrounding the Bamboo Bridge in Pai, Thailand, is conceived as a living research bed — an adaptable structure that hosts workshops, meals, and collective storytelling. Its design methodology merges architectural precision with sensory experience, translating agricultural systems into tactile, spatial narratives.

By engaging visitors as active participants, Harvesting Land transforms the act of dining into a form of design practice — where landscape, migration, and ritual converge, and where harvesting produce and making food is viewed both as a spatial and social architecture.
